Pak will have to fight war with India: Hafiz Saeed

The Amir of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), Hafiz Mohammed Saeed, who continues to enjoy the protection of Pakistani establishment has said that Islamabad will have to “fight a war at all costs” if New Delhi is not prepared to hold talks. “India wants war... If India is not prepared to hold talks, Pakistan will have to fight a war at all costs,” Saeed said in an interview to a Pakistani news channel. Pakistan foreign secretary Salman Bashir, who was in the Capital last week for talks with Ms Nirupama Rao, had refused to acknowledge his role as the mastermind of the Mumbai attack. He had dismissed Indian evidence against Saeed as “mere literature”. In his interview, Saeed also denied the charge about his involvement in planning and carrying out the Mumbai attacks. “Let India prove it in any court, I will be ready to accept everything.” Ahead of the Indo-Pak talks, he had told a huge gathering of his supporters at Lahore that jihad was the only option left as India would never let go of Kashmir. Threatening I ndia with dire consequences he had said that India would suffer the same fate over Kashmir as the Soviet Union in Afghanistan and the US reverses in Afghanistan. Tapes of the rally, which have been accessed by a television channel, showed Saeed’s supporters waving Klashnikovs and shouting anti-India slogans.
