Mercedes posts 78% higher sales in Feb

Luxury car-maker Mercedes-Benz reported 78% rise in its sales for the month of February 2010 compared with the number of cars sold in the same month last year. The company sold 439 units in February, as compared with 246 units in February 2009. Cumulatively for January-February, the growth in sales was much higher at 157%, with the company selling 842 units as against 328 units sold in the same period last year. A statement from the company said the new E-Class and the new-generation S-Class have emerged as clear favourites among Indian luxury car buyers, while the C-Class also witnessed resurgence with 172 units.
