Time Management & Success Strategy - Achieve More by Doing Less

It sounds ridiculous at first, but there is a strong truth behind this statement and it is an important time management and successful strategy of successful people is using it consciously or not.

Let us take a brief look at three ways how you can achieve more by doing less:

1. Doing things a calm and relaxed manner

Have you ever noticed how hectic some people from doing their activities? When you work in a calm and relaxed way, you achieve more in less time.

In an episode of Celebrity Masterchef, former 400m athlete Roger Black felt the heat. His kitchen so like a disaster zone. There were ingredients scattered everywhere. He was preparing food on every surface imaginable. Sweat poured from his forehead. He looked tense, stressed and he barely finished in the allotted time.

In contrast, in a second Celebrity Chef competition, a chef who previously had taken the time suffered a hindrance, decided to create a simple but sophisticated starter. This meant that he had more time to concentrate on preparing for his main course and dessert. He seemed busy but unhurried.

He was in control.

As Gordon Ramsay in Hell's Kitchen fame told his protégés:

"You control the kitchen or the kitchen controls you."

The same can be said about life itself. The dishes prepared by the chef were visually impressive and the expressions and comments of the judges, they tasted great too. It was no surprise that he was crowned "Master Chief".

2. Systematise

Create systems to the things you do regularly. Systems may take time to install and implement, but in the long run they will save you time, energy and money. Companies often get up and running, and then decide to adopt different systems to improve operations. Decide on the systems you need upfront can be very beneficial to your bottom line.

Plus, if you hire staff, they will have a set of procedures to follow. This will have the added advantage of standardizing what you do and makes it easier to test the effectiveness of your strategies.

In some cases you will be able to use the finished systems. But for unique or highly specialized projects, you may need something suited. Again, the initial outlays be expensive, but the long term, you will regain your investment. This is an optimization of your business through the introduction of effective systems allow you to improve your company's profitability and cash flow while your work load.

3. Go with the flow

If you swim against the tide takes you nowhere fast and consume a lot of energy in the process. When life feels like a constant uphill struggle is an indication that you probably either do the wrong thing or doing the right thing the wrong way. At times like this it is important to stop, reassess where you are and where you are coming.

If you set out on a journey and discover you go the wrong way, you would not continue along the same route and expect to arrive at your planned destination. Similarly, if you find that what you are doing is not working, making a course correction.

It may be a small problem affecting your progress. But unless you review and evaluate your progress you will continue to go headlong in the wrong direction and you will continually feel as if you're doing battle.

You will also lose the ability to feel pleasure, which should be linked with your life's work. And if you do not enjoy your work if you're not having fun, it's a clear sign that all is not well and that you go against your flow.

Most people say they are working to earn money. The world-renowned philosopher Bob Proctor says you must go to work for satisfaction and that you earn money through multiple streams of income. There is also a proverb to:

"The more pleasure you take - the more money you can do."

It is a matter of discovering how to work on your business forward in it. So, to review the way you work to see how you can "achieve more by doing less."
