NPBE : Ideas to Make the School District the Best It Can Be

The New Providence Board of Education met on Thursday, June 11th to discuss plans for the future that will enhance progress in the local school district. Board members met to brainstorm ideas that will lead to future success within the school system. Each Board member made an individual proposal. There were over forty different ideas that were offered, reflecting the members’ thoughts and personal opinions on what they thought might further improve the already successful school system. These ideas, after much discussion, were then voted on and culled down to a handful that will be focused on during the next school year. One of the suggestions that was offered was getting information out to the public to better inform residents about what has been happening in the schools and what the school system plans on doing in the future. Another idea was to implement a system that ensures the recognition of all students, not just the high achievers. The plan is to reach out to all students no matter their academic level and recognize their efforts. Discussions about revenue generating opportunities ensued so as to help achieve this goal, including funding programs dealing with special education. Board members also suggested improving the quality of the school TV station.
