Japanese nonwovens production sharply decreased during the first half of this year. According to Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry statistics, January-June nonwovens production declined by 23.2% year on year to 132,288 tons. Production decreased for all production methods. Especially, the production of needle-punched nonwovens mainly for automobile applications fell by 40%, and had a great impact on overall production. Spunlaced fabric production registered the smallest decrease of 8.6%.
