SOUTH of Scotland MSP Aileen Campbell has welcomed plans

SOUTH of Scotland MSP Aileen Campbell has welcomed plans which will allow local youngsters to explore the River Clyde. Her comments came after the Scottish Government’s recent announcement that £3795 of funding has just been allocated to the Clyde River Foundation. The Foundation is one of 45 science projects across Scotland which are to receive a share of £650,000 from the government’s Science Engagement Scheme. The funding will enable the Clyde River Foundation’s Meet Your River activities project to take 150 primary pupils from villages and towns in the Clydesdale area along the River Clyde, highlighting the science in their local habitats. Commenting on the funding, the MSP said: “I welcome the SNP Government’s funding for science projects in Clydesdale and throughout Scotland. It is extremely important that we ensure children are able to get out of the classroom and take an active interest in science and learn about their natural surroundings. “The Clyde River Foundation and the funding from the government will enable Primary School pupils in Clydesdale to get outside and learn about the Clyde’s history and ecology.
